Every single phrase of this account is referenced in Scripture, but for simplicity and clarity the references are omitted, see the web site for details.
We all come to the Lord and spend time in entreaty in different ways; this account is to give you a hunger and thirst for what is available.
Entreaty is where you offer up prayers of supplication or intercession.
Supplication is a humble and earnest request made to God for oneself, while intercession is prayer on behalf of others.
We pray at any time day or night.
The Lord hears the prayers of those whose heart is tender, contrite and humble.
When we delight in the Lord, He gives us the desires of our hearts, and these desires inform us what to pray for. The Holy Spirit is here to teach us and remind us about Jesus.
The Holy Spirit rests upon us. He gives us prophecies, dreams and visions. He gives is wisdom and understanding, counsel and strength, knowledge and awe of God. Again, these inform us what to pray for.
We wait on the Lord; we stop and listen.
What the Lord puts on our hearts we ask for. And He gives it to us, so it bears fruit that the Father may be glorified. We receive so that our joy may be full.
If we ask in prayer but do not really believe that our prayer will be answered our heart is not attuned to the Lord.
If our heart us attuned to the Father’s will it will happen, at a time in a way which is His way.
As the heavens are higher than the earth, His ways are higher than ours
The word of the Lord, the answer, goes forth and not just is accomplished, it prospers.
Having a prayer list for particular people and situations is a good way to pray persistently for them.
We are encouraged to call out day and night, to pray without ceasing, to pray for each other.
When a situation is always at the back of our mind, we can take steps to play a part in the remediation through prayer.
When two or more agree and ask in Jesus name it will be done. Asking as a group together is very powerful.
Some are called to be watchmen (you may be one yourself). Watchmen watch, pray and report.
They look out from their community or family to the wider world, their town, region, nation, the world, and note what is going on.
They report (or the Lord shows us ourselves), so again, we can pray in an informed way. We make mention of what we hear and ‘give Him no rest’ praying without ceasing.
